COGNITIVE BEHAVIOURAL THERAPY (CBT)

CBT is a talking therapy which considers the client’s negative behaviour and thoughts about themselves and other people.

CBT can help people positively modify their thinking and behaviour. This helps individuals to re-evaluate their way of thinking and their behaviour – leading them to feel more in control and able to achieve their goals.

Counsellors at Magnolia House Therapy will first talk to clients to assess and determine the root cause of their problems. We then aim to teach positive thinking strategies, often by setting achievable goals.

STRESS THERAPY

When you are stressed, you feel as though you’re not in control of your life. It could be brought on by a range of factors in your present situation, or past events.

Stress can cause many problems, from work performance to relationship issues. The sufferer can feel irritated and lack concentration, be unable to sleep or enjoy food, sex or social activities.

Stress is also dangerous for physical health, causing problems from headaches to high blood pressure.

At Magnolia House, we help you understand the behaviours behind your stress, and work with you to develop techniques to reduce stress and improve your emotional well-being.

PSYCHOTHERAPY

Psychotherapy helps you deal with difficulties or distress through talking, as an alternative – or to complement – medication. It enables you to find more appropriate ways of dealing with situations that have a negative impact on your emotional and psychological well-being.

You explore your feelings, beliefs, thoughts and experiences in a structured way to help you understand anxieties and motivations, and explore your strengths and weaknesses. In turn, this helps you cope with difficult situations.

Sessions can be provided for adults, adolescents and children on a one-to-one basis, or for couples, families and within groups where members share similar problems.

Jackie also has experience working with clients in Polyamorous relationships.

NEURO LINGUISTIC PROGRAMMING (NLP)

NLP explores the relationship between how individuals think (Neuro); a person’s verbal and non-verbal function (Linguistic); and patterns of behaviour/emotion (Programming).

We work with clients to recognise their behaviour patterns, often based on self-taught rules, experiences and restrictions in their values and beliefs.

NLP helps clients acknowledge these patterns and limitations, and adapt to new behavioural techniques to achieve a mental and physical sense of well-being.

NLP is used both personally and in the professional world with great results. Changing how you think can change how you live your life.

TIME LINE THERAPY®

Similar to NLP, Time Line Therapy® helps our clients to make sense of their experiences and change their understanding of how negative emotions and limiting beliefs can affect them.

The unconscious mind often relives memories stored as unresolved negative emotions. These can remain intact until the underlying issue is resolved.

We teach clients techniques that give them emotional control over their life, removing limiting beliefs such as, “I’m useless” or “I can’t”. The results create a positive future.

LIFE COACHING

Life coaching is now widely recognised as a method of mentoring for our professional and personal lives.

Magnolia House Therapy offers coaching to move you from where you are in your life to where you want to be. We will guide you and support you throughout these changes. We will help our clients to find their inner strength and confidence to take control, allowing themselves time to reflect and make changes.

Life coaching provides encouragement, strength and motivation, helping individuals to develop and overcome stress and other issues. Through teaching clients to focus and set goals, anything can become possible.
